Biography
Gina Beavers (b. 1978) was born in Athens and lives and works in New York, where she creates paintings that reflect on contemporary society. Using photos from the internet in general and social media in particular as an inspirational source, Beavers creates her paintings, drawings and installations. Among the many pictures people post on the internet, the artist selects some to be translated into her canvases. Thus her subject is the world’s subject: make-up tutorials, food pictures, body builder selfies… Beavers also takes the three-dimensionality to its higher possible level with her ultra thick layers.
