The Three Kinds of Treasure

“More valuable than the treasures in a storehouse are the treasures of the body, and the treasures of the heart are the most valuable of all.”

The Three Kinds of Treasure

It is always a welcome and unpredictable encounter during the process of hanging new works to experience the new reactions to what is placed on the wall.  Standing back and looking at these works, I was surprised to see that in addition to the two hearts already displayed, that I found a third, and I began to feel this is more than a coincidence.
This is how the title for this exhibition ‘Three Kinds of Treasure ‘ came about.   Drawing on a quote from Nichiren Daishoin,  a Buddhist Priest from 13th Century Japan, who expressed his own insight about the heart in the following words:
“ More valuable than treasures in the storehouse are the treasures of the body, and the treasures of the heart are the most valuable of all. “
Thank you to Hazel for inspiring the connection.
